Challenging but a heap of fun and excitement and nostalgically brings me back to the retro games I played growing up.. all i can say is that aura of worlds is a great game and i look forward to seeing this game growkeep up the good work guys. You can't set resolution, it's like 2k or 4k all the time :/. This was a pretty fun game!. An awesome rogue-like platformer, that is not only challenging but just as importantly offers deep, fun and varied gameplay (with lots of interesting options and abilities to play with).. Full of charming surprises and little twists and turns. Within the first ten minutes I was already snorting amusedly; how torches blow up, where to spot traps, finding out that jellies can hide stuff inside them etc. For someone like me who doesn't often play procedural, rogue-genre games, it feels more forgiving to players who just like to explore and goof around. Not to say this game isn't challenging. It certainly is. But my curiosity over what I will encounter next outclasses the need to perfect a playing method.And I guess that's the whole point! Goes to show that the presented focus of the game: creatively handling a situation, really pulled through.Also, the art is very pretty. Excellent pixel art and animations.. Really fun twist on the platformer genre. There is a wide range of mechanics so that you can tailor your gameplay to favor whichever way you want to play. I like to swing around with the grappling hook and swing out of range and take everyone down from a range. The swinging mechanics are very satisfying, as is the wall sliding and jumping. Also I am a sucker for quality parallax effects.This is a quality game and is renewing my faith in platformers which is not my favorite genre.. Aura of worlds is a really cool rogue like platformer that takes a bunch of small elements like creatures, traps and area layouts and mixes and matches them together to generate interesting situations for the players to solve. Things only get more interesting from there because the player will always come at these emergent problems with a completely different set of tools. You're challenged on both your overall skill at playing the game and it's general controls and the ability to put together strategies on the fly by mixing the items you've found in the level.A lot of roguelikes like this feel a bit aimless and huge to me. I never feel like I'm unlocking much and I don't feel like I'm getting any better at the game either. Aura of Worlds is completely different it feels like it's in a really good balance where I can tell I'm getting a bit further each run and I'm unlocking new abilities every few runs that change up the way I play. Over time I was able to work out a number of strategies and items that I play well with and almost got through a perfect run before getting beat up by the necromancer and a particularly nasty choke point. I can't wait until the next world is released so I can see how my strats hold up to the new challenges.I definitely recommend picking this game up it's already great and only getting better.Also the music is amazing.. I really love the challenge in playing this game, the choices you get to make every playthrough different are awesome and really keep it fresh. Really enjoying it so far!. I was really impressed with this retro inspired game and enjoyed exploring it. It looks really great and the music is delightful as well. You can tell that a lot of work and passion has gone into developing this quaint roguelike experience. It’s remarkable that such a tiny team of developers have created such a polished game which has the potential for hours and hours of replayability. I must admit, I found it quite brutal and challenging to play but that just made me more determined to make it out alive in each level. I love the feelings of nostalgia it evoked in me! Reminding me of the hours spent in front of my Commodore 64 as a child. Of course, stylistically, this game is a lot more refined yet it still feels true to form in it’s tribute to the classic pixel genre. I highly recommend playing this game and I look forward to enjoying more of it as it evolves and develops.
